Teurastamo on Helsingin Hermannissa sijaitseva entinen teurastuslaitos, jonka alueella on vuodesta 2012 alkaen ollut ravintoloita, baareja, kaupunkiviljelyä ja vapaata kaupunkitilaa. Teurastamo on osa laajempaa Helsingin Wholesale market. The atmospheric courtyard is surrounded by red brick slaughterhouse buildings built in the 1930s.
The buildings on the site were designed by the architect Bertel Liljequist. The slaughterhouse was closed in 1992.
You are free to barbecue and hang out in the yard of the slaughterhouse, within the framework provided by the city. The area is also the venue for urban culture events, such as food events and concerts.

The slaughterhouse in Kaurismäki's films
The Helsinki City Slaughterhouse appears in the film Rikos ja rangaistus (1983), directed by Aki Kaurismäki. The film opens with a long, dialogue-free scene showing the slaughter of meat inside the slaughterhouse. Rahikainen, played by Markku Toikka, is a modern-day Raskolnikov working in the slaughterhouse. The premises appear in the film at 1:30-4:36. Crime and punishment on Yle Arena. The slaughterhouse was served by an overhead line from the Hermann road through Agroksenmäki
The slaughterhouse was served by a power line from the harbour promenade on the Hermann waterfront at Agroksenmäki. A deep cliff cut ran through Agroksenmäki, where the railway ran. The track was built in the 1930s and demolished at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s.
