Hermann village fete

The Hermann Village Festival was held on Sunday 7.8.2022. The sunny weather was kind to the festivities. The programme included live music, dancing, flea market and fair food. A small team of volunteers organised the party. The event took place in the parking area of Saarenkatu 6-10, all of Orioninkatu and the Violanpuisto Park for the community jogging. The following bands performed at the party: Naava, Anna Have, SUPER POWER, Pirita, Maggie's band and Orang Pendek. The Avec dance club danced the crowd and Friskis & Svettis [...]

Päiväkoti Kotikallio ja Vallilan ala-asteen sivupiste, Saarenkatu 4

Päiväkoti Kotikallio sekä Vallilan ala-asteen sivupiste sijaitsee osoitteessa Saarenkatu 4. Rakennuksen on piirtänyt Kimmo Söderholm ja se valmistui 31.12.1970. Rakennus peruskorjattiin vuonna 2001. Peruskorjauksen suunnitteli arkkitehti Kari Savolainen yhdessä päiväkodin henkilökunnan kanssa. Orioninkatu 18-20 is an As Oy building. Saarenkatu 3. The four-storey building has 28 apartments and was completed in 1956. The buildings were designed by A. Hytönen & R.-V. R. and R. Luukkonen. A wide green belt separates the building from the street. The house belongs to block 651, which was featured in Helsingin Sanomat on 8 May 1989 in a series of articles by Kaija Hackzell and Kirsti Toppar on city blocks. Violanpuisto

Violet Park has grassy areas, a rocky outcrop, a sand pitch, a local sports ground and a temporary kindergarten. The park is located in the north-eastern part of Hermann, close to the Hermann waterfront road and Vellamonokatu. The temporary pavilion day nursery in Violan Park was built on the Violan Park sports field. The construction of the kindergarten started in autumn 2018 and it opened in early March 2019. The seven-storey building at Hämeentie 81-83 is distinguished by the ground floor shops and especially the Restaurant Hermann's Rooster. The building was completed in 1959 and designed by Else Aropaltio. The buildings designed by Aropalttio (1914-2008) were characterised by a strong sense of aesthetics. Jyrkän rinteen päällä sijaitsee vuonna 1958 valmistunut Saarenkatu 10, jonka on suunnitellut Mauri Karulahti. Talon toinen osoite on Vellamonkatu 20. Talo on kiinni Saarenkatu 6-8:ssa. Talo kuuluu kortteliin 656. Kortteli esiteltiin Helsingin Sanomissa 19.6.1989 Kaija Hackzellin ja Kirsti Topparin artikkelisarjassa kaupungin kortteleista.
