In the early 2000s, the South Hermann zoning plan was approved and a new apartment block for more than 2000 residents was built on the land of the former veterinary college. The area was inaugurated in 2012. In the future, residential buildings will be built in Kyläsaari and Hermanninranta.

Many of the streets in the area are named after former cinemas: the Allotria, Rialto, Tuulensuu, Plaza, Fenix and Tenho.

Sörnäistenkatu 2

Sörnäistenkatu 2 is a modern and large office and retail building with a red brick and glass façade, completed in 2008. The building represents industrial architecture that blends in with the old harbour and industrial buildings in the area. The building is owned by Sponda. The South Hermann facade towards Allotrianpuisto and Hämeentie is a complex of four buildings completed in 2011. The buildings were designed by Hannunkari Mäkipaja Oy Architects. Rialtonkuja 6 is home to As Oy Helsingin Rialto, which consists of three buildings: the A, B and C buildings. The buildings facing Allotrianpuisto and Hämeentie form the facade of Etelä-Hermann. The elongated building masses of the house have been split from the 3rd floor upwards into two point-fired sections, as in the neighbouring houses. The building has six floors and 30 apartments.

Fenixinrinne 8, completed in 2011, was designed by the architectural firm B&M Oy. The building is occupied by Asunto Oy Helsingin Diana. The elongated building masses have been split from the 3rd floor upwards into two point-fired sections, as in the neighbouring houses. The building has six floors and 30 apartments.

Fenixin gutter 6

The orange Fenixinrinne 6 is home to Asunto Oy Helsingin Titania, which also includes the red neighbouring house Fenixinrinne 4.Fenixinrinne 6 was completed in 2011.The colourful house was designed by the architectural firm B&M Oy. Red Fenixinrinne 4 is the southernmost of the elegant houses in Fenixinrinne. Tuulensuunkuja 1 is an apartment building completed in 2013, with seven floors and 40 apartments. The name of the building company is As. Oy Helsingin Regina. The old red brick chimney of the School of Veterinary Medicine has been preserved in the centre of the block. The building's neighbours are Tuulensuunkuja 3 to the north and Tuulensuuntori 3 to the south.

Windward 3

As Oy Helsinki Tuulensuunkuja 3 is a Lumo rental building completed in 2013, with seven floors and 55 apartments. It was designed by Architects Sarlin+Sopanen Oy. In some documents, the name of the housing company is Vihertikka. The old red brick chimney of the School of Veterinary Medicine is preserved in the centre of the block. The neighbours of the house are Plazankuja 5 to the north and Tuulensuunkuja 1 to the south.

Plazankuja 5

As Oy Helsingin Plazankuja 5 is a Lumo rental building completed in 2013, with seven floors and 55 apartments. It was designed by Architects Sarlin+Sopanen Oy. The building is located along Plazankuja and Tuulensuunkuja. In some documents, the name of the housing company is mentioned as Harmaatikka. The house is the northernmost in a row of four similar houses.

Plazankuja 3 (Pallas) is a five-storey complex of six buildings completed in November 2009, located along Plazankuja, Tuulensuunkuja, Allotriankuja and Rialtonkuja. The houses have a total of 93 apartments. The property is owned by Helsingin Asumisoikeus Oy. The building of the old state margarine factory at Lautatarhankatu 2 was completed in 1924 by Uno Sjöholm, architect of the Prison Department of the Ministry of Justice. Allotrian Park

The Allotrian Park runs along the edge of Hämeentie. In winter, a hill is lowered from the park's hilly cliffs. The houses at Rialtonkuja 6 and Allotriankuja 4 are located on the edge of the park.
